Parkinson's Open Day

Very happy to have shared our research at the PD Open Day in Cambridge on 14th February 2026.

Jointly organised by the Williams-Gray and Barker groups at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, this annual event offers people living with Parkinson’s - and their loved ones - a unique glimpse behind the scenes of current research efforts.

I introduced our work and the concept of phase separation, where proteins form droplet‑like structures, much like oil in water, and discussed how these processes influence alpha‑synuclein at the synapse and may contribute to early dysregulation in Parkinson’s.

Just as importantly, this reminded us to focus on what truly matters to the community - and basic science does matter.

Looking forward to more exciting science ahead!
